I am the cultural heritage manager for the expansive cultural landscape around the newly designated UNESCO World Heritage Site Naumburger Dom. As part of the Förderverein Welterbe an Saale und Unstrut e.V. and the Stiftung Schulpforta, which administers the nearby former Cistercian monastery of Pforte, I aim to develop and implement innovative ideas for increasing cultural tourism on national and international levels. My goal is to elevate my institution to receive the European Heritage Label (EHL) as part of a transnational project, which includes also our partner monastery in Wągrowiec.
Educated as an archaeologist in Scotland and England, I have spent many years working in Cyprus, Jordan and Qatar, and have learned to appreciate the different approaches to museum culture both from the inside as a provider and as a guest looking for unique experiences. Cross-cultural communication and education is a particular passion of mine, as is creating an immersive association of landscape, object and narrative.
